Krul wants youngsters to take Europa League chance

Newcastle goalkeeper Tim KrulNewcastle Goalkeeper Tim Krul has told his younger team-mates at St. James’ Park to make the most of their chance in the Europa League, when the Magpies take on Club Brugge in Belgium tonight, according to ITVsport.

Alan Pardew is set to rotate his squad tonight and Tim Krul believes it is the perfect opportunity for some of Newcastle’s youngsters to force themselves into the manager’s first team plans.

“It is all about opportunities. I used to love the cup games because that used to be my opportunity, and it’s the same thing for the other young lads now coming through,” Krul told reporters.

“For the young lads coming through, it’s a chance to show themselves.”

Tom Krul made his senior debut during a UEFA Cup clash against Palmero, aged just 18. The Dutch shot-stopper looks back at his first appearance fondly.

“I was 18 at the time, so I was still young then, but it was a great night for me, my first ever professional game.

“It been six years now, so it’s been a long time. It’s a long journey, a lot of things have happened since.

“Of course, I am really pleased with how it has been because I am the number one of Newcastle United now and that was the aim at the start of that.”

It is believed youngsters Sammy Ameobi, Shane Ferguson and Gael Bigirimana will be given the chance to shine at the Jan Breydel Stadion.

However, Pardew will balance his starting XI with the more experienced Shola Ameobi, as well as Fabricio Coloccini and Cheick Tiote, who are suspended for Sunday’s game against West Ham in the Premier League.
