Newcastle boss urges underperforming star to shine

Alan Pardew has called on Papiss Cisse to turn his form around for the sake of his Newcastle career.

The Senegalese international made a huge impact in the first six months of his time at St James’ Park after arriving in January 2012, netting a staggering 13 goals in 14 appearances – including a spectacular effort away to Chelsea.

However his form tailed off last season, and has got even worse on the current campaign with him having found the back of the net on just one occasion.

The 28-year-old was heavily linked with a January move away from the club, and could even exit in the coming weeks with strong interest from Russia.

Pardew is known to be a big fan of the former Bundesliga star, and has called on him to get back to his best between now and the end of the season in order to guarantee that he has a future at Newcastle:

“He needs to have a big second half of the season for the summer,” he is quoted by Sky Sports.

“We are going to have to make a decision with Papiss: whether he is going to stay at this club and be a big player for us like he was two years ago and last year to a degree, or whether it’s going to be pastures new.”
