According to the Daily Record, Rangers boss Steven Gerrard is keen to make Joe Worrall’s loan move from Nottingham Forest permanent in January, but fans of the Reds were not keen to see their man leave the City Ground.

Worrall is an England U21 international centre-back and made his debut for the Scottish giants in dramatic circumstances as he was thrown into the starting line up for the 2-2 draw away at Villareal in the Europa League.

The 6ft 4in defender was partnered with Connor Goldson for the group stage opener and impressed for Gerrard’s side in his first competitive appearance since March, when he came off the bench for Forest in a 2-0 defeat against Millwall.

With Danny Fox, Michael Hefele, Michael Dawson and Tobias Figueiredo all ahead of the youngster at the City Ground it was a good decision for Worrall to go out and get game time, but it was clear from their reactions on Twitter that Forest fans do not want him sold on a permanent basis.
