Nottingham Forest fans on Twitter have been worrying that the loan signing of Porto full-back Saidy Janko means that fellow loanee Sam Byram’s knee injury is serious and could see him out for an extended period.
Byram, who is at the City Ground for the season from West Ham, limped off just before half-time in Forest’s impressive mid-week 3-1 cup win over Newcastle having been the provider for Daryl Murphy’s early goal.
Right-back Janko then joined the club on the loan deadline day for EFL clubs. The former Switzerland U21 international came through the youth ranks at Zurich and then Manchester United, where he spent time away from Old Trafford on loan with Bolton before signing for Celtic on a permanent deal.
The 22-year-old will certainly bring boss Aitor Karanka some good experience despite his young age but it was Byram who most Forest fans initially thought of when the transfer was confirmed. Check out some of the tweets below in reaction to the news.
So Byram is out for long ?

Good business. Really hope Byram injury isn't too serious, but Janko is not a bad option. Would have like a fast striker, of course, but we have got what we have got now and need to make the most of it! Appiah may grow in to the team to provide pace.

This does imply Sam Byram is our for a significant period of time, which is horrible for the lad and a blow to us as I think Byram is different class in this league and would have given us an edge.
