HYS: Who is Aitor Karanka’s best Nottingham Forest signing?

Since arriving at the club back in January – almost a year ago – Aitor Karanka has had a significant impact at Nottingham Forest and has them targeting promotion with them on the fringes of the play-off positions.

The former Middlesbrough boss has smashed the club’s transfer record to bring in £13.2m man Joao Carvalho from Benfica and has splashed around £6m on Lewis Grabban, but has also been shrewd in his dealings by bringing the likes of Michael Hefele in for just £300k as well as star man Joe Lolley for just £1m.

Attacking midfielder Carvalho has been excellent in his first season at the City ground, recording three goals and six assists in 21 Championship starts, whilst 14-goal Grabban tops the scoring charts in the league – Lolley has six goals and six assists and is said to be being monitored by Premier League clubs.

However, Hefele has been instrumental in what has been one of the leagues best defences – Forest have conceded 23 goals in just 23 games.

We’d argue that the £300k man, who was relatively unknown having made just 39 appearances in two years with Huddersfield, is the best signing for his huge impact and surprisingly low fee, but we would like to know who you think is Karanka’s best signing at Forest? Have your say down below…
