Nottingham Forest are closing in on Newcastle United midfielder Jack Colback according to The Chronicle.
The 28-year-old versatile player was on loan at Forest for the second half of last season and made 16 appearances, scoring once during his spell.
The report indicates that Aitor Karanka wants to sign the left-footed defensive midfielder on a permanent basis and he is valued at £3.15million on Transfermarkt.

If he makes the move to the City Ground, he will become Forest’s tenth signing of what has been a very busy transfer window for the club.

Colback showed during his stint in the Championship last season that he is an efficient and reliable midfielder.
He may not set fans’ hearts racing like some of Karanka’s other additions, but he is a very useful player to have in the squad and could prove vital if Forest make that push for promotion that many are expecting.
