Michael Mancienne is set to be the next victim of Karanka’s rebuilding project

Nottingham Forest defender Michael Mancienne, rated at £1.35m by Transfermarkt, could be on his way to the Turkish Second Division, with Çaykur Rizespor reportedly interested in a move according to The Nottingham Post.

What’s the story?

The 30-year-old versatile defender joined Forest in 2014 and has gone on to make 124 appearances for the club without scoring a goal.

Last season he played 29 times but according to the report, he is no longer part of Aitor Karanka’s plans and hasn’t been included in the squad’s pre-season training camp in Spain.

Now Turkish Super Lig team Çaykur Rizespor want to sign the experienced defender and former England U21 international.

Karanka looks to rebuild

Nottingham Forest have made their intentions clear this summer that they are going hard next season, and with the money they’ve spent they need to be promotion contenders next season.

While players liked Mancienne have performed well for Forest over recent years, they’re not at the level they need to be, and it’s time for Karanka to get rid of the dead wood in the squad.
