Nottingham Forest stretched their English Championship unbeaten run to five matches on Tuesday night, winning a solid point away to Norwich City after a 0-0 stalemate.
Considering they lost their four previous in all competitions prior to this latest run, it’s definite improvement, a sign that Aitor Karanka is stabilising the club ahead of more ambitious aims next season.
Fans were content with the result and performance but did come out of the match worried about one of their top prospects.
18 year old Ben Brereton didn’t have the best of games against the Canaries, missing a number of chances and supporters are questioning the rate at which he is progressing as a footballer after close to 50 appearances for the club.
Many supporters are happy to remain patient and are pleased with his work rate, but hope to see definite improvement when it comes to taking chances.
Do Forest need to make the striking position a priority this summer?
Fans took to Twitter to share their thoughts…
Brereton has so much potential and yes he's only young, but he's not progressing like other players have in the past. Burke, Cash, Osborn, Worrall etc have all developed game by game. Brereton takes one step forward and another one back #NFFC

I know patience isn’t an #nffc fan’s strongest asset, but bear with Brereton. Everything we all want from him comes with age. He’s eighteen years old.

Ben Brereton's ok but still think we need someone up front who can score the goals. He had chances last night and could of passed to Lolley in the 88th min to get the win but hay-ho happy with a point. #NFFC

Brereton worked his socks off tonight. Things just didn't fall for him. His movement to get free was excellent at times. He's 18, still learning but is so much better than anything else we have at the club in that position. Proper player. #nffc

I complete understand why Ben brereton was played on wing for Mark warburton now Not a natural goal scorer . Speed & work rate 👍 finishing and diving dreadful 👎 #NFFC

Brereton needs our support and patience (dirty word on here that), yes he's wasteful and makes some dumb decisions, but he's 18 and is doing the most pressurised job at #NFFC. Give him the time to learn, improve and become the player we hope he'll be!

It’s really easy to think Brereton will be a really good player in the future but he played poorly tonight and needs to work on his game more. He’s an adult too, enough with the mollycoddling. #nffc

Brereton has gotta start offering more, and quickly before I start really disliking him! – shocking first touch and goes to ground so, so easily!… #nffc 🔴⚪🔴⚪

Great to see us looking solid defensively but we’re very boring to watch. Hope we ease off on the time wasting & slowing the game down. Soon as we up the tempo we look more threatening. Brereton has a lot to learn but is still young! Good point. Bring on the Sheep! #nffc 🔴⚪️
