Nottingham Forest fans react as Worrall will stay at Rangers

Following the appointment of Martin O’Neill after the departure of Aitor Karanka, Nottingham Forest have looked into the potentiality of bringing back their out-on-loan defender Joe Worrall, who is currently with Steven Gerrard at Rangers.

The Nottingham Post reports that the Championship side had until January 7th to recall the 22-year-old, but did not act on the clause in his contract.

As a result, Gers’ boss Gerrard has said that he intends to keep the young defender at Ibrox for the remainder of the season.

That is not good news for O’Neill and Forest, who are experiencing somewhat of an injury crisis in defence at the moment ahead of this weekend’s game against Bristol City at the City Ground – Danny Fox is suspended, with Michael Dawson, Michael Hefele and Tobias Figueiredo all struggling with injuries, meaning new boy Yohan Benalouane could come straight in to the XI.

Seeing as Worrall is Forest’s player, a lot of fans are up in arms about why they cannot recall the defender whenever they want, and have taken to Twitter to express their anger, although some are also keen for him to stay in Scotland to further his development…
