They don’t ever miss an opportunity do they?
The rivalry between Derby County and Nottingham Forest is a long and storied one, so whenever there’s a chance for one to poke fun or criticise the other, fans are going to do their best to get under each other’s skins. And when it’s a situation like this, they were never going to keep quiet.
The news came out yesterday that Derby County had decided to terminate the contract of their club captain Richard Keogh as he recovers from the injuries suffered in a crash with his teammates Tom Lawrence and Mason Bennett back in September.

Whilst there were some who used it as one final chance to have a pop at Keogh, there were others who decided to take a more serious tone about the incident and outright condemn their decision, pointing out the hypocrisy in letting the two main culprits Lawrence and Bennett still play for the club.
Taking to Twitter, they were rather divided on the matter. Here’s some of the reaction.

Richard Keogh seems to have paid the ultimate price that comes with being one of the most antagonistic professionals.
He now seems to be at war with the club he gave everything for. Well done, Richard. You’ve really peaked this time round. 😅 #NFFC

That surely makes Derby stronger sacking Keogh doesn’t it! #nffc

To be fair to Derby I’d have sacked Keogh a long time ago based on the fact he was an awful footballer and absolute goon. #nffc #dcfc

Two drunk drivers get arrested. Are banned. Giving community service and are fined heavily keep there jobs. The passenger gets the sack ? Proper banter. Horrid club #DCFCFANS #NFFC

How can #dcfc sack Keogh when he was a passenger and merely fine the 2 drunk drivers. It’s a ridiculous decision and if I were Keogh I’d take them to the cleaners and I hope he does. It says everything you need to know about Derby’s values and principles as a club. #NFFC

So the two drunk drivers carry on playing, and the passenger gets sacked? Derby being derby yet again 👏

Sorry Derby, even as a Forest fan i didn’t think you’d sink so low, your fans deserve better, we can all see through the reasons behind this and the reasons the younger players are still with you. #DCFC
