Nottingham Forest fans were left vexed with the display of goalkeeper Costel Pantilimon in their 3-1 defeat to Aston Villa on Wednesday night.
Supporters of Martin O’Neill’s side were angry with a number of different aspects of the Romanian’s game, suggesting he was at fault for all of the goals.
John McGinn scored twice, hitting the ball low on both occasions which meant the tall frame of the ex-Manchester City ‘keeper wasn’t able to get down to make the save. This was one of the main issues the Forest faithful were left extremely irritated with.
But complaints didn’t stop there. Fans continued to lay into their number one, calling out his poor distribution skills, whilst naming him a liability and a fraud.
Their reaction showed no boundaries as a barrage of criticism was heaped on the 32-year-old with one Reds supporter saying a new goalkeeper is clearly needed after his inconsistent displays between the posts.
Pantilimon has been ever-present for Forest in the Championship this season, playing 37 times, but there could now be pressure for him to be dropped from the side.
Here’s how damning the reaction to his efforts was…
Pantilimon is awful, getting beat at the near post trying to get down to it instead of using his feet! 2nd goal, he hardly even dives for it! He’s what. 6’7! Come on! And then the 3rd goal! defending is horrific and I have never seen a keeper less demanding in his own box!!

One thing is clear, we need a new goalie. Pantilimon has proven himself to be mediocre at best, a liability at his worst. #NFFC

Pantilimon back to his laughable best again tonight

Can’t wait till we get a new keeper!! Pantilimon is shocking!! Making far too many mistakes. Too inconsistent #nffc

Frustrates me when Pantilimon just dilly dallies on the ball when we have a good chance to counter #nffc

Hard and low and it’s a goal.
Yet people will say Pantilimon isn’t that bad #nffc

Sorry but Pantilimon was culpable for all 3 of their goals. Absolute fraud. #nffc

Don’t think Pantilimon’s ever done distribution drills in his life. What a waste of two long feet. #nffc
