Revealed: 68% of polled Nottingham Forest fans think Jermain Defoe would get them promoted

According to a recent report from The Sun, Jermain Defoe may be available in the January transfer window after finding himself well out of favour at Bournemouth under Eddie Howe.

The 36-year-old is the Cherries’ fourth-choice striker behind Callum Wilson, Josh King and Lys Mousset at the Vitality Stadium, and as mentioned in the aforementioned article, Nottingham Forest are interested in taking the England international to the City Ground.

Defoe certainly still has the predatory instincts that have made him one of the most prolific goalscorers in England, and would be a shrewd signing for any interested party looking for a goal-laden second half to the season.

Aitor Karanka’s Forest, who are just two points off the play-off positions, have the league’s leading marksman in 14-goal Lewis Grabban, although it remains to be seen whether or not he can keep up that form and fire them to the Premier League.

In that respect, we asked Forest fans if they’d like to see Defoe arrive at the club to compete with Grabban and push each other to their best form. And, as shown by the results below, a huge 68% of those who voted said they do want the veteran poacher at the club…
