Bright Osayi-Samuel expects QPR’s loan youngsters to be hungry for next season

QPR might have had an absolutely woeful season but for every cloud there is a silver lining and Bright Osayi-Samuel was rewarded for his displays this week, as he was voted the Hoops’ Young Player of the Year.

The winger is keen to be part of a resurgent R’s side next campaign and has also said that he expects loaned-out youngsters Paul Smyth and Ilias Chair to be hungry to make an impact. Will the pair breach the starting XI next term?

What did Osayi-Samuel say?

Well, after speaking about his own targets for next season, the 21-year-old had this to say about the young duo:

“I think next year is going to be a big one for a lot of players here. What we have to do is produce on a consistent basis, week in, week out.

“Lewis (Walker) came in on Saturday to make his debut and played well. And then there are players out on loan like Ilias Chair and Paul Smyth who have done well.

“They are going to come back with confidence, and then it’s down to all of us to put that all together for next season and showcase our ability.

“Already I can’t wait for it.”

Bright futures

Smyth, 21, has chalked up three goals and five assists on loan at Accrington Stanley while Chair, also, 21, has four each to his name in his short spell with Stevenage.

The duo are set to return to Loftus Road in the summer and will be hoping that they can be a part of the next managerial appointment’s revolution – there has to be one if the R’s are to climb out of this despair.

Osayi-Samuel himself has just three goal contributions in 32 appearances for the W12 outfit this campaign and will certainly be hoping to improve on that next season. Will he, Smyth and Chair be the trio to keep an eye on?
