QPR fans are furious with Smithies speculation

According to Sport Witness, Queens Park Rangers have accepted a £4m bid from Cardiff City for goalkeeper Alex Smithies, with the deal expected to go through in the coming days.

Smithies joined QPR from Huddersfield Town in 2015, and is widely regarded as one of the best goalkeepers outside of the Premier League.

The 28-year-old has made over 100 Championship appearances for the R’s over the last three seasons, and it was always going to be difficult for them to keep him this summer.

Personal terms should not be a problem, and if QPR and Cardiff have indeed agreed a price then the deal will surely go through very soon.

The QPR fans have been reacting to the transfer speculation on social media, and it would be fair to say that they are very unhappy with what they consider to be poor transfer business.

Indeed, in the current market – which is inflated to say the absolute least – £4m for a player of Smithies’ ability does seem extremely low.
