Some QPR fans have taken to Twitter to discuss Joe Lumley’s mistake in the 3-2 win over Luton on Saturday.
The R’s goalkeeper made a horrendous error with QPR leading 3-0 over the newly-promoted side, thanks to a first-half mauling which saw Eberechi Eze and Nakhi Wells hit the back of the net.
However, Lumley’s mistake – in which he passed the ball to Harry Cornick before watching it fly into his unguarded net – set the tone for a Luton fightback.
A second Luton goal went in shortly after the restart, but Mark Warburton’s side were able to hold on and get the three points despite his stopper’s error.
One fan said that it would “ruin the competitive vibe” around the club if Lumley kept his spot in the team, while another simply stated that the 24-year-old “has to be dropped”.
Of course, not all fans have taken against him, with many actually offering support to the stopper.
Let’s take a look at some more of the Twitter reaction…
Lumley’s error this weekend was shocking. BUT I really hope we can stick behind him, has made a few other mistakes this year but hes still young for a keeper and it’s only his second season as number 1. Bags of potential if he can improve distribution and concentration #QPR

All I’d say if warbs want no one to think their shirt is safe. If Lumley keeps his shirt it ruin the competitive vibe around the club

I honestly believe looking at the replay, that Leistner was in a direct line with Cornick, at the moment he decided to kick the ball, and simply didn’t see Cornick.
We all make mistakes sometimes!

I loved every minute of that game. It was like watching the old QPR. It was exciting and tense. This is how I was years ago. Everyone makes mistakes. He is our number 1 and think he is fantastic.
