Queens Park Rangers announced on Thursday that midfielder Ryan Manning had joined Rotherham United on loan for the 2018-19 campaign.
Manning signed a new three-year contract with QPR last summer, and made 21 appearances in all competitions for the club during the 2017-18 campaign.
The 22-year-old has also already featured twice for the R’s this season, but director of football Les Ferdinand has been part of the decision to send him on loan to Championship rivals Rotherham.
The QPR fans have been reacting to the news on social media, and it would be fair to say that they are not best pleased with the situation.
Indeed, many feel that the squad simply does not have the strength in depth to be allowing a player of Manning’s ability to leave at this stage of the campaign.
It remains to be seen whether the decision comes back to haunt QPR this term, but the club’s supporters are not very pleased with what has occurred.
A selection of the Twitter reaction can be seen below:
Ha ha we have loaned one of our better midfielders to our relegation rival… You couldn’t make this up if you tried! DOF should of stepped down too!

Not happy with that decision.

He’s one of our better players. We could go down, and as a result they could stay up. Crazy decision

Is this a wind up?

Marvellous 👍 so what happens if Freeman, Luongo or Scowen get injured? Surely healthier for the club if we have players competing for their place in the side? 🤷♂️ Let’s pray Rotherham don’t stay up at the expense of @QPR
