QPR fans react as Bassong joins club on trial

Queens Park Rangers have taken experienced centre-back Sebastien Bassong on trial.

Indeed, the 32-year-old is currently training with the R’s, and was involved in their Under-23s fixture against Nottingham Forest Under-23s on Monday.

Bassong has represented both Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League, but has not played since March 2017, and was released by Norwich City at the end of the 2016-17 campaign.

Bassong is a 15-time Cameroon international though, and certainly has a decent pedigree despite the fact that he has now spent more than one season out of the game.

The majority of QPR fans, however, are not overly pleased with the news regarding the 6ft 2in ace.

The R’s are currently bottom of the Championship having suffered a 7-1 defeat at West Bromwich Albion on Saturday afternoon.

Head coach Steve McClaren is seemingly considering a move for Bassong in a bid to improve his back four, but a number of the QPR fans are against the deal taking place. That said, there are also those who would welcome the centre-back.
