Struggling Queens Park Rangers are set to bolster their attack with the signing of Tomer Hemed on loan from Brighton, Sky Sports reports.

What's the word?

After four consecutive defeats to open the Championship campaign, under-fire QPR boss Steve McClaren is desperately seeking experienced recruits before the loan window slams shut next Friday - and Tomer Hemed could be the next man through the door.

Sky Sports report that QPR are closing in on a deal for the 31-year-old Israel international after Chris Hughton made it clear he is surplus to requirements at Brighton, which has led to negotiations between the two clubs.

Hemed is yet to feature for the Seagulls in the Premier League this season and netted just two goals in 16 appearances last term, as he struggled to rekindle his fine form from the Championship in his first season in the top-flight.

The man needed?

Scoring just twice in four matches, it is painstakingly obvious that QPR desperately need attacking recruits and Tomer Hemed is a step in the right direction - as he boasts a solid record of 30 Championship goals in 73 starts.

After helping Brighton to promotion in the 2016-17 season, Hemed has struggled to adjust to the rigours of the Premier League and a return to the second-tier could lead to a new lease of life for the experienced Israeli forward.

However, QPR's issues are not going to be resolved with just one attacking recruit and Hemed should not be the only forward McClaren brings to Loftus Road in the next week - but it is at least a step in the right direction for the West London side.
