The League Cup comes back tomorrow night, with Arsenal taking on Reading at the Emirates Stadium.

On paper, Tuesday's clash should be an easy obstacle for the Gunners to overcome. They're separated from the Premier League's summit by goal difference alone, whilst Reading are currently eighth in the second tier.

But the beauty of football lays in its unpredictability and the Royals are by no means a soft touch. They've lost just four games across all competitions since Jaap Stam took the helm during the summer, sweeping away Plymouth and Milton Keynes en route to the League Cup's Round of 16.

And having endured a rather stale scoreless draw with Middlesbrough on Sunday, Arsenal aren't exactly entering Tuesday's clash in top form. Consequentially, there could well be an upset on the cards in north London - so here's a close look at three Reading stars who may inspire the Gunners' elimination from the tournament.

Callum Harriott

Brentford v Charlton Athletic - Sky Bet Football League Championship

Regular substitute Callum Harriott may miss out on a starting berth tomorrow night but the former Charlton winger could have a huge impact from the bench through his pace and trickery - especially if the Royals are in a position to counter-attack late on.

The 22-year-old hasn't exactly enjoyed a phenomenal start to his Reading career but his best performance so far has come in the League Cup, bagging a brace to help his side past MK Dons back in August.

Roy Beerens

Reading v Huddersfield Town - Sky Bet Championship

The dynamic pace of Roy Beerens could well be what an inspires an unlikely Reading victory on Tuesday night.

He's a relative unknown in England but the 27-year-old winger has been capped twice by the Netherlands national team and previously enjoyed spells with Heerenveen, AZ and Hertha Berlin before signing for the Berkshire outfit in July.

Beerens is an electric-paced, skillful and incredibly direct wide-man and will serve as Reading's main outlet on the counter-attack against the Gunners.

John Swift

Reading midfielder John Swift in action against Brighton and Hove Albion

Having notched up seven goals and four assists for Brentford last season before signing for Reading during the summer, John Swift's making a name for himself in the Championship. The former Chelsea youngster's certainly impressed since his move to the Madjeski Stadium, finding the net three times in 13 league outings whilst averaging 1.5 created chances and 1.2 successful dribbles per match.

The 21-year-old's nailed down the No.10 position in Stam's starting line-up and looks set to take up that role on Tuesday night. Having previously failed to make the grade in the Premier League, Swift will be desperate to impress against top flight opposition.
