There was certainly a significant degree of excitement when Sheffield United signed highly-rated Liverpool attacker Ben Woodburn on a season-long loan deal during the summer.

The Wales international arrived at Bramall Lane having already scored one goal for his country and once in 11 appearances for the Merseyside outfit despite only being 18 years of age, and the forward – who can play on the wing or through the middle – would have been hoping to be a regular in this Blades team.

However, the talented starlet has not only played just 144 minutes in eight Championship fixtures so far this term, but he has also only made the starting XI on one occasion – albeit he was substituted off at half-time in the 2-1 win at home to Norwich City last month.

The majority of the teenager's game time in the league came in the opening four matches, and he has played just 17 minutes over the previous four, including being an unused substitute in the 4-1 win against Aston Villa and the 1-0 reverse against Bristol City.

With the loss against the Robins being followed up by a disappointing goalless draw against Birmingham City in Yorkshire on Wednesday – a fixture in which they were second best – Woodburn will surely be pushing for a start for the visit of Preston North End on Saturday, even if he seemingly hasn't made a huge impact on manager Chris Wilder, who must not hand a soon-to-be out-of-contract Bramall Lane favourite a new deal for the best of the club, as of yet.

So, Sheffield United fans, do you think that Woodburn should be starting following a couple of poor performances and results? Let us know by voting on our poll below…
