Sheffield United must make cheeky loan swoop for new West Ham striker Xande Silva

Sheffield United have had a promising few weeks in terms of incoming transfers, but they still look to be a striker short and must make a cheeky loan bid to bring West Ham United new boy Xande Silve to Bramall Lane.

What’s the word, then?

Well, while the Blades have snapped up David McGoldrick this summer, his fellow centre-forwards Billy Sharp and Leon Clarke are getting no younger, while Clayton Donaldson was also released to leave Chris Wilder a little short of options up top.

If the Yorkshire outfit are to be in the promotion picture this term it seems apparent that they will need to bring in another striker on loan.

Meanwhile, the Irons only signed 21-year-old Silva on a three-year deal from Vitoria De Guimaraes at the start of the month, but he made a huge impact earlier this week with a six-minute hat-trick in a 3-1 win for the U23 side against their Tottenham Hotspur counterparts.

Why should Sheffield United try and sign him?

While the Portuguese youngster already looks to be an impressive buy for the east London outfit, considering the wealth of attacking options Manuel Pellegrini has available to him in the form of Marko Arnautovic, Javier Hernandez, Lucas Perez and Andy Carroll – when he returns from injury – it is hard to see him getting much of a look in – at least over the course of the next few months.

Therefore the Blades should look to bring the talented attacker to Bramall Lane on a temporary deal to boost their promotion push, and the 21-year-old could be an exciting addition alongside McGoldrick up front for United given he would clearly add some pace and is already proving that he is a clinical finisher.

Given he will get regular minutes in the Championship and some much-needed first-team experience, it would be a loan that would suit all parties and he would potentially be the signing of the entire summer in the England’s second tier.
