Back in training: Sheffield Wednesday fans excited by Kieran Lee return

Sheffield Wednesday’s squad has had to deal with its fair share of long term injuries. Gary Hooper has had a lengthy lay-off whilst the same can be said for Kieran Lee.

However, in training ground video footage that the club’s official Twitter account shared, Lee made an appearance which has understandably got Owls fans excited.

Supporters were absolutely buzzing to see him back on the training pitch, sharing a host of emojis whilst one individual tweeted a GIF summing up their feelings.

Most fans chose to simply utter the player’s name, almost in disbelief that he was back.

Lee hasn’t played for Wednesday since December 2017, with a comeback in September 2018 cut short by another injury set back.

The midfielder then underwent knee surgery in November and has been in rehab since.

He has played a total of 146 league games for the Yorkshire club, scoring 20 times since arriving from Oldham in 2012.

If Lee were able to return to the pitch before the end of the season, it would be a timely boost for Steve Bruce’s men.

Here’s how Wednesday fans reacted.
