A slight majority of the Sheffield Wednesday fans that answered our recent poll were keen to push Liverpool to cancel Ben Woodburn’s loan with Sheffield United and send him to Hillsborough in January.
The Daily Mail recently reported that Woodburn had not been recalled from his loan spell at Sheffield United, despite turning out for Liverpool’s U23 side against Derby last week, and he was then left on the bench by Chris Wilder in the Blades’ 4-2 win over Wigan.
Liverpool have become known for demanding that their loan players are given game time, and even inserted a clause into Marko Grujic’s contract with Cardiff last season that said Neil Warnock’s side would be ‘financially punished’ if the Serbian did not play in at least 14 games.
Woodburn’s lack of game time for United then could mean he is recalled in January. If this happens, 58 per cent of Wednesday fans said they would support Jos Luhukay in making a move for the 19-year-old Welsh international to help them push on from 15th place in the Championship.
