Revealed: 88% of Sheffield Wednesday fans would support loan move for Markovic

The majority of Sheffield Wednesday fans that answered our poll were keen for manager Jos Luhukay to make a loan move for Liverpool outcast Lazar Markovic in January.

Wednesday currently sit 12th in the Championship following an impressive 1-1 draw with Leeds on Friday evening, where Adam Reach netted a goal of the season contender with a long-range half-volley.

Luhukay went with a 3-4-3 formation against the then league leaders, with Fernando Forestieri and Reach either side of veteran striker Steven Fletcher.

Markovic though could be a fantastic signing for one of these positions if he could find some of the form that he showed while on loan with Hull in 2017. The former Serbian international winger has been demoted to training with the academy at Liverpool after a nightmare stint on Merseyside following his £20m move from Benfica in 2014.

The 24-year-old’s Anfield career is surely over, but Liverpool may struggle to find suitors for a permanent deal so the Owls could make a bargain loan offer where the Reds continue to pay most of his wages. In fact, 88 per cent of Sheffield Wednesday fans wanted a deal like this to happen.
