Just over half of the Sheffield Wednesday fans that voted in our poll were against the club pursuing a deal for 36-year-old free-agent Wes Hoolahan.
The Owls were unable to sign any players on permanent deals this summer after being placed under a transfer embargo by the EFL for failing to meet Financial Fair Play guidelines. The ban was lifted after the transfer window closed on August 9 and with the loan window still open, manager Jos Luhukay was able to bring in Michael Hector from Chelsea and Josh Onomah from Spurs.
Hoolahan is still available on a free transfer after leaving Norwich this summer, where he had spent the previous 10 years of his career. He made 351 appearances for the Canaries, scoring 51 goals and providing 78 assists.
The Irish international has been training with West Brom though and the Baggies look set to sign him, according to Football Insider, although clearly Wednesday fans won’t be too disheartened. Check out the full results of our poll below.
