The transfer window might have closed for England’s top two tiers a month ago, but teams lower down the Football League were still able to complete their business until Monday evening.
Fans at Sheffield Wednesday could only sit and watch as there were some big moves across League One and League Two, such as Daryl Murphy joining Bolton or Rolando Aarons making a loan switch to Wycombe.
Gareth Ainsworth’s move for the 23-year-old appears to be quite the coup considering Aarons has featured in the Premier League for Newcastle, in the Serie A for Verona and last season for Wednesday in the Championship.
Several of the Owls’ supporters took to Twitter to share their thoughts on the transfer.
One fan called it an ‘unbelievable’ signing whilst another labelled his time at Wednesday as ‘sensational.’
Others were perplexed by how Wycombe had pulled off such a move with a further fan claiming he would have had him back in south Yorkshire.

How on earth have you done that then

Incredible signing for League One. He’ll be the stand out player in that league. Really impressed with him at #swfc last season.

He was class for us towards back end of last season rapid and full of tricks. If you can keep him fit you’ll have the best player in the league on your side
