Sheffield Wednesday fans were delighted to see Barry Bannan return vs Leeds

Sheffield Wednesday celebrated a huge victory on Saturday, winning 2-1 away to Leeds United and boosting their hopes of avoiding relegation from the English Championship.

The win has moved them eight points clear of the bottom three and with just eight games remaining, that should be enough of a buffer to be drawn into any late drama in the tail-end of the season.

Fans were delighted with the win, but weren’t only joyous about that, also loving the return of midfielder Barry Bannan after a three month lay-off with a hip injury.

He came on in the 66th minute with the scorelines level at 0-0 to get some much needed game time under his belt, helping his side to the vital win.

Supporters will now be hoping he can inspire the Owls to more victories in the closing stages of the season as they begin to plan for next term already.

They took to Twitter to welcome him back after the match…
