Sheffield Wednesday looking to offer Man United starlet game time

Sheffield Wednesday are keen on taking Jesse Lingard on loan from Manchester United, according to reports from the Daily Star.

The 22-year-old appeared to be a player Louis van Gaal was keen on at the start of last season after he was thrust into the Dutchman’s starting XI for his first league game in change of club.

However, Lingard picked up an injury in that match and has since slid away from the first-team set-up and looks unlikely to break back in anytime soon with the Red Devils currently top of the division.

And reports claim that Wednesday are keen on the attacking midfielder.

The Owls can offer Lingard game time in the Championship, which could both boost his development and put the youngster in the shop window for a future move.

The starlet netted for United’s U-21s last week, a game Wednesday scout Glenn Roeder was present at.
