Shittu poised for Bolton exit

Bolton Wanderers manager Gary Megson has confirmed that central defender Danny Shittu is set to leave the club in the near future.

The 28-year-old is rumoured to be a £2million target for Nottingham Forest, having struggled to make much of an impact at the Reebok Stadium.

Megson told the Bolton News: “There is quite a bit of interest in Danny and we’ll see if it materialises into anything more concrete.”

Meanwhile, goalkeeper Ali Al-Habsi insists that he is content to act as back-up to the long-serving Jussi Jaaskelainen again this season.

He said:“It is always mentally hard being a goalkeeper, because there is only one position like it on a team.

“For me, I have to work hard every day and make sure I am ready. When Jussi got injured at the end of the season before last, I had to be ready to step in and I was.

“That was my chance to show I can be a Premier League goalkeeper and I think I showed everyone that I can.

“As a goalkeeper you have to be patient. You have to be ready and take any chance you get.”
