Crouch signs new Stoke deal, fans react

Stoke City fans have welcomed the news that Peter Crouch has signed a new contract at the club.

The 6ft 7in forward, who turns 36 years old at the end of the month, was due to come to the end of his deal in May.

Crouch has struggled for regular game time this season, making just 12 Premier League appearances, only four of which have been as part of the starting XI.

The 42-capped England international is not exactly a one-man club, and given his age it would not have been a surprise if he opted to move elsewhere for the remaining years of his career.

However, after scoring twice in his last two league matches, the Potters have decided that he is worth keeping hold of for another year.

The former Liverpool forward, who joined Stoke from Tottenham Hotspur in 2011, is just two goals away from reaching a person milestone – 100 league goals.

After the news was announced, Crouch took to Twitter to express his delight in penning fresh terms.

Fans also used social media to give their thoughts on the deal, the majority of which were positive.
