Stoke City have announced their first signing of the summer as Oghenekaro Peter Etebo joined the Potters for £6.35million from Feirense.

What's the story?

The 22-year-old midfielder was on loan at Las Palmas from January, but returned to Portuguese club Feirense at the end of the season.

The Nigerian international has 14 caps for his country and came off the bench in their recent 2-1 defeat to England.

A box-to-box midfielder, Stoke fans will hope he helps the club reverse its fortunes following a dismal season which saw them relegated to the Championship.

A good signing?

Following the good news of Joe Allen agreeing to a contract extension at the Britannia, fans will be pleased to hear they have a solid presence at his side to add some much-needed toughness in the Championship.

Oghenekaro Peter Etebo is comfortable going forward and defending, with his defining moment coming in the 2016 Olympics when he scored four goals in a 5-4 win against Japan.

The World Cup-bound midfielder has signed a five-year deal, which may represent a risk if things don't work out, but new boss Gary Rowett will be pleased to be off and running in the transfer market.
