It would be wrong to single out anybody for Stoke’s 5-1 defeat at the hands of Tottenham last weekend. The Potters’ game-plan clearly failed and it’s not exactly the first time this season Mark Hughes’ boys have suffered defeat by a hefty margin. In fact, they’ve conceded the most goals of any Premier League side.
That being said, if there’s one player you would have expected to step up his game against Spurs, it’s Kevin Wimmer – who moved to the Bet365 Stadium from north London during the summer transfer window in an £18million deal.
However, the eight-cap Austrian international endured a disappointing afternoon, making just two tackles and one interception over the course of ninety minutes, and few have been impressed with his performances so far this season.
With that in mind, we recently asked Stoke fans whether Hughes should drop the 6 foot 2 defender for tonight’s trip to Burnley and according to our poll, a whopping 71% think the Potters gaffer should.
How would you line up Hughes’ side tonight without Wimmer, Stoke fans? Let us know by commenting below…
