According to results from our recent poll, the majority of Stoke fans would love to sign Millwall's Jake Cooper - the defender could cost a fair bit but, should West Ham sell Marko Arnautovic to Shanghai SIPG, the Potters would receive 20% of the fee thanks to a handy sell-on clause.

Arnautovic was subject to a £35m bid from the Chinese outfit last week which was outright rejected by the Hammers, although the big-spending Eastern suitors will surely come back with an improved offer soon - money is no object in that league.

Nathan Jones and co will be praying that the east London outfit's stance on their star man's future will change as it would mean they scoop a good portion of the profit made, cash which we suggested should go straight onto signing a new centre-back.

Ashley Williams and Ryan Shawcross are into their twilight years and have been sloppy in recent weeks - if the bet365 Stadium outfit want to regain Premier League status in the next couple of years, bringing in someone who can step into either's shoes has to be top of the agenda.

Cooper has been in excellent form for the Lions and is one of the best goalscoring defenders in the league - we think the 23-year-old would be the perfect fit at Stoke and it turns out that 88% of Potters fans agreed with us.
