Stoke City and Middlesbrough are favourite to sign Leicester City defender Robert Huth, according to SkyBet.

What's the story?

The 33-year-old Leicester legend is out of contract and it is looking increasingly likely that he will return to one of his former clubs, either Stoke or Middlesbrough.

The former Premier League champion made 149 appearances for Stoke between 2009 and 2015 after he moved from Middlesbrough.

Anyone with Huth's experience would be a massive addition to a Championship team, although it is worth noting that the German defender did not make a single appearance last season due to injury.

Why he should sign for Stoke

Stoke are in dire need of a figure like Huth to steady the ship.

He is a natural leader that Stoke really need in the dressing room following their abysmal season which saw them relegated to the Championship.

He is unlikely to get much game-time wherever he ends up, but he can still offer so much in the dressing room, and a return to Stoke where he enjoyed a long and successful spell would be a fine way for his career to come to a close.
