Stoke City hoping to pip Everton to Dane

Andreas-Cornelius

Stoke City manager Tony Pulis has made FC Copenhagen striker Andreas Cornelius his number one summer transfer target, according to the Daily Mail.

The Potters will lose former England forward Michael Owen who is retiring from football and Pulis may look to sell bit-part options Kenwyne Jones and Cameron Jerome at the end of the season.

Scoring goals has been a big problem from Stoke as City have failed to score in their last nine games and are still in a real relegation scrap after a major downturn in form since the turn of the year.

Everton are said to be extremely keen on bringing the Danish international to England but Stoke are hoping that their £5million bid will pip the Toffees to the 20-year-old’s signature.

Pulis attended FC Copenhagen’s league game with OB Odense this week to examine the 6ft 4in forward ahead of making that expensive summer bid.
