Stoke City’s striker chase: £6m transfer bid will get deal done

According to reports from Sabah, Stoke City are still interested in signing Fenerbahce striker Robin van Persie but are reluctant to pay a £6million transfer fee.

The Netherlands international’s Premier League pedigree is more than established, claiming two Golden Boots and the 2012/13 title throughout his spells with Arsenal and Manchester United.

RVP left the latter club for Fenerbahce last summer and has since gone on to net 22 times across all competitions – including 16 goals in the Turkish Super Lig.

But copious sources have suggested the former Gunners star is looking move on this summer, having been linked with a return to the Premier League and reportedly offered his services to Barcelona.

Stoke City are firmly in the frame to sign the 33-year-old, with Mark Hughes hinting at the club’s interest last month and Mirror Football also reporting on the Potters’ pursuit.

However, van Persie comes with big wage demands, which has left the Bet365 outfit reluctant to meet Fenerbahce’s £6million valuation of the 6 foot striker.

Stoke would be interested in a loan deal but the Turkish side aren’t so convinced by the idea.
