Potters chief Mark Hughes has made securing attacking reinforcements his major goal before the transfer window slams shut, and believes that the 24-year-old can give his side a greater spark in the final third.
It is expected that he will provide Jermaine Pennant with more competition for a starting berth while adding greater depth to Hughes’ new look squad.
Although he favours a wide role, Arnautovic is also capable of playing as an orthodox striker or an attacking midfielder, which may allow ‘Sparky’ to alter his side’s shape to a greater extent.
The youngster has spent three years with Werder Bremen, after joining them from FC Twente, following a year on loan with Italian giants Inter Milan.
Arnautovic was tipped to be one of the top stars in European football earlier in his career, but his development has stagnated during the past few years.
However, Hughes is confident that he can the best from half-Serbian attacker.
