Stoke have joined the race for Bordeaux midfielder Wahbi Khazri, and have apparently sent scouts to watch him, writes the Stoke Sentinel.
Khazri’s side drew 2-2 at the weekend and it is believed that Newcastle and Everton also had representatives at the game, checking the midfielder’s progress.
The 24-year-old midfield is into his second season of a four year contract, which he signed in 2014, and had previously accumulated over 150 appearances for Bastia.
Stoke’s midfield is heavily populated, but Charlie Adam’s age and Marco van Ginkel only being on a loan may mean that Mark Hughes looks to add to his squad before he finds himself short of options.
Khazri has a decent goal scoring record and would follow a number of players from Ligue 1 to the Premier League in recent season, with varying success.
Newcastle and Everton’s interest may drive the price up for any side who does decide to bid, whilst other clubs still have plenty of time to register their interest before the window opens.
