Stoke set their sights on Burnley ace

Stoke City are considering a summer move for Burnley forward Danny Ings, with Mark Hughes having gone to watch the in-form striker in action, according to the Daily Mirror.

Hughes made a personal check on the England Under-21 star, as he prepares for his second summer transfer window as Potters boss.

He was there to witness Ings fire his 20th goal of the campaign in the derby win over Blackburn, and was suitably impressed with what he saw from the highly rated striker.

Ings is set to enter the final year of his contract at Burnley in the summer, which will give Hughes license to make an offer.

However he is sure to face competition for the signature of a player who has been in electric form in the Championship this season.

Hughes knows he needs to strengthen his attack for next season, with the Stoke City front line being one of the oldest in the Premier League.

Burnley are currently charging towards promotion, and are desperate to tie Ings to a new contract, although they are aware they may not be able to offer financially what a host of other clubs are planning.
