Stoke star was targeted by Premier League giants in his youth, claims dad

Stoke City forward Bojan Krkic’s father has claimed that Premier League giants Manchester United and Chelsea were once interested in signing the player during his teenage years, only for the Spaniard to turn down a move to England.

“I remember United were interested in him when he was 16 at Barcelona,” Bojan Sr said.

“Chelsea were very serious, too, a year or two later, just before he signed a new deal. Luis Scolari was manager and Frank Arnesen flew out to speak to us. But Bojan only really wanted to play for Barcelona.”

After a promising start at Barca, Bojan found opportunities limited and left for Roma in 2011. However, he enjoyed little success at the Italian side, and equally difficult spells at AC Milan and Ajax led many to believe that the young prodigy had peaked far too soon.

But after a summer move to Stoke City, there are signs that Bojan’s career is on the rise once again, and the 24 year-old has impressed for the Potters recently.
