Stoke target Bundesliga veteran

Stoke manager Mark Hughes is considering an end of season move for Wolfsburg forward Ivica Olic, according to reports from talkSPORT.

Despite having made a solid start to the season and show signs of progress under ‘Sparky’, the Potters have struggled in front of goal, with just 15 efforts having found the back of the net.

The biggest reason for this is believed to be a lack of depth in the final third, with Peter Crouch short on support.

Hughes is keen to address this, and could look to make a move for Olic at the end of the campaign.

The 34-year-old Croatian only joined Wolfsburg from Bayern Munich last year, but Hughes is hopeful that he can lure him to the Premier League in the summer.

Olic is thought to be considering his options, and wants to know his eventual destination by around February.

Hughes is attracted to the forward’s vast experience and know-how at the highest level.

The veteran carved out his reputation in his homeland with NK Zagreb and Dinamo Zagreb – with whom he won two league title – before moving to Russia to join CSKA Moscow, winning three top tier crowns in his time there.

This form won him a move to Hamburg, for whom he impressed, ahead of a switch to Bayern Munich.
