Real Betis midfielder Jose Canas has opted to join Swansea ahead of West Brom, the Daily Mail have claimed.
Canas is refusing to sign a new deal with the La Liga outfit and will be available on a free transfer at the end of the season, with the Swans hot favourites to complete the signing.
Swans boss Michael Laudrup came close to signing the 25-year-old during the January transfer window after agreeing a £1.5million fee with Betis but deal fell through.
West Brom have since joined the race for his signature but Swansea look to have done enough already to fight them off and Canas will sign at the end of the season.
Canas will not be the only player to arrive from Spain in the summer as Laudrup is known to have a number of targets in La Liga as he prepares for next season’s hectic campaign.
