Liverpool keen on shock deal for Prem’s joint second-highest scorer

Liverpool are keen on Swansea City’s Leroy Fer following his excellent start to the season, according to reports from CalcioMercatoWeb.

The 11-cap Netherlands international only made his loan spell with the Swans a permanent deal over the summer but has already notched up three Premier League goals – including a vital strike in the 2-2 draw with Chelsea on Sunday – to become the division’s joint second-highest scorer this term alongside Etienne Capoue and Sergio Aguero.

And reports claim his bright displays have alerted Liverpool, who are allegedly monitoring his progress.

Although Fer is in excellent form and boasts good knowledge of the English game from his time at QPR and with Swansea, Jurgen Klopp signed fellow midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum from Newcastle over the summer.

The Dutchman is a similar style of player to his compatriot – which makes a potential move for the Liberty Stadium star somewhat questionable.

It remains to be seen whether or not Liverpool’s interest intensifies ahead of January.
