Swansea City supporters have been voting, and a huge proportion of those polled want Graham Potter to chase AFC Bournemouth’s Jermain Defoe.

Defoe is struggling for game time on the English south coast - he has featured in each round of the Carabao Cup but has made just four substitute appearances in the Premier League so far this season.

The Swans, on the other hand, are struggling to score, netting just 22 goals in 20 Championship outings, with top scorer Oliver McBurnie leading the way with eight.

Potter’s side have not been struggling to create chances, but have lacked a second clinical forward to put the ball between the posts.

Attacking midfielder Bersant Celina continues to lead the way for shots taken with 41 in 18 games, but has scored just two goals. Daniel James also has the most shots from inside the box with 26, yet he has netted just once.

Transfermarkt currently values Eddie Howe’s out-of-favour hitman at £2.25million, and Bournemouth would unlikely ask for an excessive fee given Defoe is now 36 years of age.

In a recent Football FanCast poll, a whopping 84% voted in favour of the Welsh side making a move for the former Tottenham and Sunderland striker.
