Jermain Defoe has left Bournemouth to join Scottish giants Rangers on an 18-month loan deal.

Defoe made 26 appearances in all competitions for Bournemouth last term, and whilst he had been involved for the Cherries this term, there is no question that he was down the pecking order.

Indeed, the centre-forward has only played 21 minutes of Premier League football during the 2018-19 campaign.

Rangers have now won the race to sign the 36-year-old, with the Scottish Premier League club confirming the deal on Sunday.

Last week, we asked the Swansea City fans whether they wanted their club to make an ambitious move for the forward, who could have formed a lethal attack with Oliver McBurnie.

And it will not come as a surprise to learn that 85% of the Swansea fans polled urged their club to make a late move for the Englishman, but it did not transpire.
