Swansea City boss Graham Potter has lavished praise on Courtney Baker-Richardson, who penned a new contract with the club earlier this week.

Baker-Richardson's previous deal with the Welsh outfit was due to expire this summer.

However, the 23-year-old has now put pen to paper on a one-year extension, meaning that he is now contracted to the club until the end of the 2019-2020 campaign.

Baker-Richardson came through the youth system at Coventry City, but had to drop down into non-league before earning a move to Swansea in August 2017, and the attacker was actually sent off on his Championship debut in September.

However, he has managed to contribute this season, finding the back of the net on three occasions in 12 appearances for the Swans.

Potter has said that he is 'really pleased' for Baker-Richardson and has tipped the Englishman to continue to make his mark for the club.

Swansea's official website quotes Potter as saying:

"I am really pleased for him. He is a really good lad, he tries his best every day and does not let things get him down. He gets his head down and focuses on the next thing he has to do, which is a really good quality to have as a footballer.

"He knows his strengths and weaknesses, but he does not let those things affect him he just carries on and carries on and has a real strong belief in himself.

"So psychologically he is a strong character and he has helped us when he has come in, and given us a different type of centre-forward.

"He still has a lot to learn, he still has a lot to do, but it’s nice that he has extended his time with us and I am looking forward to working with him."

Baker-Richardson will hope to be involved when Swansea face Leeds United in the Championship at Elland Road on Wednesday night.
