Swansea City players give fans a Spanish lesson

Capital One's Swansea City Phrase guideSwansea City supporters gearing up to begin their Europa League adventure in Valencia are getting a helping hand from their very own Spanish heroes, with the first ever downloadable Footballer’s Guide to Spanish phrases.

The Swans qualified for Europe this year after triumphing in the Capital One Cup last season at Wembley and League Cup sponsor and credit card provider Capital One has stepped in to ensure travelling supporters are properly prepared for their first trip to Spain with the club, teaming up with the club’s leading stars to create a tongue in cheek language guide for fans.

The special audio guide, voiced by a host of Swansea’s adopted Spanish stars including Miguel Michu, Chico Flores and Jose Canas, features the stars offering a number of helpful phrases for fans making the trip, as well as translations for favourite chants to help make a real presence in Valencia’s iconic Mestalla stadium.

Highlights include:

There’s only one Wayne Routledge! – ‘Hay solamente un Wayne Routledge!’

You’re not singing anymore! – ‘No estás cantando más!’

Do you speak Welsh? – ‘Hablan ustedes Galés?’

A game of two halves – ‘Un partido de dos mitades’

Do you serve pies? – ‘Se sirven pastels?’

Swansea City’s Spanish defender Angel Rangel said: “We can’t wait to see our brilliant supporters out in Spain on Thursday. I hope Capital One’s Spanish guide helps a few of our fans, and I might be sharing it with some of the lads in the changing room!”
