Swansea fans on Twitter couldn't quite believe what happened in the Champions League on Wednesday night, as Renato Sanches scored for Bayern Munich on his return to the club after a torrid loan spell at the Liberty Stadium last season.

The now 21-year-old spent last season in Wales thanks to then boss Paul Clement's links with Bayern and their manager at the time Carlo Ancelotti. The deal originally looked like a huge coup for the Swans as Sanches had played 25 times for the German giants the season before and was a part of Portugal's Euro 2016-winning squad.

His time in the Premier League was incredibly disappointing though and he will be remembered mainly by Swansea fans for his pass to the advertising boards at Stamford Bridge rather than anything worthwhile.

Now though Sanches is back with Bayern and he made his first appearance against his former club Benfica in a 2-0 Champions League win. The youngster's goal came after he produced an impressive driving run from his own half and carried on into the box to get on the end of a James Rodriguez cross.
