Swans chief Michael Laudrup is believed to have been watching the 25-year-old Mexican for some time, and is ready to offer him the prospect of regular Premier League action.
Moreno himself is thought to be keen to move to England, and may jump at the chance to switch to the Liberty Stadium in the build-up to the 2014 World Cup – for which his national side qualified courtesy of a play-off fixture.
Laudrup is keen to bolster his squad in January, with his side set to balance domestic league and cup ties with a potential extended run in the Europa League.
Moreno is seen as a player that can fit into Swansea’s much-praised playing style and provide competition for the likes of Ashley Williams and Chico Flores.
Meanwhile, Ben Davies has reiterated his desire to stay in South Wales.
The left-back has been linked with a potential move away from Swansea to replace Leighton Baines at Everton – should the England international switch to Manchester United.
Davies says that he is happy at his current club and keen to stay:
“Swansea is the club I want to be at. I’m more than happy.”
Should Swansea move for Hector Moreno?
