Swansea City should attempt to sign Brighton & Hove Albion forward Aaron Connolly on loan for the remainder of the 2018-19 campaign.

What's the word, then?

No player has scored more times in the Premier League 2 than Connolly this term.

Indeed, the 18-year-old has struck 11 times in 14 appearances for Brighton's Under-23 side in the league.

Connolly has also netted five times in three EFL Trophy matches, but is unlikely to see any first-team football at his Premier League club in the second half of this season.

A loan stint might be just what the teenager needs to continue his development and Swansea should attempt to sign him for the rest of the campaign.

A large percentage of the Swansea fans wanted their club to move for Jermain Defoe this month, but the experienced forward ultimately joined Rangers from Bournemouth.

Why should Swansea move for Connolly?

Swansea are certainly in need of a new attacker during the January window.

Oliver McBurnie has been in fine form for the Swans this term, but Wilfried Bony has struggled to contribute.

The Welsh outfit are not a million miles away from the playoff positions in the Championship and a strong January window would give them a realistic chance of challenging for a top-six spot at the business end of the season.

Connolly is an unknown quantity in the sense that he does not have any experience of first-team football, but it is certainly worth taking a punt on the teenager when considering his excellent scoring record this term.

It will certainly be very interesting to see what moves Swansea make over the next couple of weeks and head coach Graham Potter will be hoping it is a busy end to the month.
